The research industry has a speed problem. But it's not what you think.

I just came back from Quirk's Chicago last week, where I sat through four consecutive sessions on AI moderation. They were all insightful, but not one of them mentioned what you're supposed to do with the answers.
The buzz was unmistakable: faster fielding, deeper scale, a hundred in-depth interviews before lunch. And look, that's real. The collapse of time between a question and its answer is a genuine technological achievement, and I don't want to minimize it. But the research industry is so intoxicated by speed that we've stopped asking where we're driving.
Here's the problem nobody said out loud: 2026 isn't a scarcity problem. It's a surplus one.
What happens when your insight library jumps from 10 hours of interviews to 1,000? If you don’t have a good answer for that, you’re not building a research function. What you’re creating is a bigger, faster graveyard for data.
Speed to generation is now a commodity. And when that speed produces a mountain of fragmented observations stripped of context, it becomes a liability. Organizations are drowning in noise while remaining starved for wisdom. Your CMO still isn't reading the report. The decision still gets made without the insight.
The insights teams of tomorrow won't be celebrated the amount of transcripts they produce. They’ll be defined by their ability to perform the difficult work of translation. True decision intelligence does not come from the interview itself. It comes from the narrative that follows.
The winners in this landscape will be the teams who can bridge the gap between "what was said" and what it actually means for the business. They understand that an interview is just a data point, but a story is a catalyst for change.
That is exactly why we built GetWhy Stories.
We wanted to help insights teams solve the full picture: from AI moderation to AI storytelling. We built a storytelling layer designed to turn customer insights into living narratives across the organization. Cinematic showreels that bring real human voices to life. Research podcasts built for consumption on the go. Interactive articles that replace the static PDFs nobody reads. We are turning qualitative data into a living, breathing part of the enterprise.
Because the interview was never the bottleneck. The insight dying in a slide deck was.
The engine is undeniably fast. But the destination is what creates value. AI research gives you answers, fast. AI storytelling makes them matter.
